Excuse My English: Layering on the Light Side
Spring came to Vashon early this year, with a collection of colorful oil paintings by artist and geologist Stephanie Lasalle entitled “Excuse My English; Layering on the Light Side.” Her paintings represent the layering in life and nature and are full of insight, inspiration, and the hope that comes with the new growth of spring. Welcome
The Vashon Flag Competition was a big success! We received and exhibited 41 different flag designs and roughly 325 Vashon residents voted on their favorites during the month of May. With each person voting for their top three, that meant we received nearly 1000 votes total!
Below are the three frontrunners, NOT shown in any particular order. PLEASE choose ONE, and let me know via email reply which of these three you would like to see as the "official Vashon flag." We will rally around the winner and hail it as our island's standard for as long as we allow it to remain unchallenged. We fully intend to mount a challenge in the future because this was a lot of fun.

Following on the successful Geo sapiens I exhibit last year, we are announcing a call for entries for Geo sapiens II, The Fusion of Geology and Art, to be shown September, 2010. See our Upcoming Events section for details.
Time and time again, artists have seen walls and yearned to hang stuff on them. We have two good long ones on which we coordinate exhibits of local and not-so-local artists and other disturbed individuals.
We invite you to check out some of our history and future events at this site, and we invite you to stop by for a look. And, as always, if you have a question, just ask us. There are no dumb questions, only dumb answers, and we're really good at the latter.
